Arlington, VA – Every two years, H-CAP partners with COWS to put on a national conference that brings together the leaders and decision-makers of healthcare for a day-long discussion on the changing world of this industry. This year, we gathered on March 7, with over 140 attendees from the healthcare industry from all over the country.
The audience included a cross-section of healthcare employers and industry associations, labor unions, training partnerships, community colleges and education providers, public workforce system leaders, community organizations, and other stakeholders from 15 states and Washington, D.C.
As if timed on purpose, the conference took place in the midst of the national discussion over the Republican initiative to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The several panels and breakout sessions were focused on the changing climate in the healthcare industry; the influence of political climate under the current administration; the future of workforce as the care delivery model changes to more home-based services; ending with a spotlight on Registered Apprenticeship as a proposed model that solves workforce needs and builds career pathways and opportunity.
